A public health specialist with over 17 years of experience. Mbawala’s experience includes providing technical leadership, strategic direction and oversight in TB programming, TB/HIV, Childhood TB, DR TB and Community TB Care. Mbawala worked for the USAID Eradicate TB Project led by PATH in Zambia as a consultant, and USAID Challenge TB project in Tanzania under KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation as a Deputy Country Representative, Technical Services and Deputy Director.
Mbawala has a wealth of experience in working with the ministry of health, local government, and other implementing partners in the TB programming, Malaria, Filariasis and RMNCH. Mbawala holds a master’s degree in public health from University of Liverpool (UK, 2018) and an Advanced Diploma in Clinical Medicine from Bugando Medical College, Tanzania (1993) and received several TB related training courses in Ethiopia, Rwanda and South Africa. Mbawala envisions a prolific movement in community engagement, research and empowerment in TB, HIV and pandemic preparedness, prevention, and response.
